Welcoming Mazu—Woodblock Prints by Lin Chih-Hsin

Lin Chih-Hsin, born in Tainan, has completed many large-sized oil paintings and woodblock prints based on the culture of Taiwan. In 1995, he completed a 1-meter high woodblock print entitled “Welcoming Mazu.” It was 1.36 meters in length and displayed in detail the local beliefs and festive events that take place in Taiwan. Lin’s artworks help preserve the folklore culture, enabling others to have a better understanding of cultural life at the time and the meaning behind these festivities.
