US Senators Explores the Beauty of BMC

Senators from the United States of America visited Taiwan’s Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Memorial Center on September 18th, 2015. The senators were accompanied by the Leader of Taiwan Economics and cultural office political group, Lu Zhijian, and met up with Abbot of Fo Guang Shan Monastery, Venerable Hsin Pao, together with Venerable Yi Jih of Fo Guang Shan International Buddhist Progress Society as the translator. The group consisted of senators from Colorado, Florida, Arizona, and other states, all of whom got the chance to visit and learn more about Taiwan’s cultures and customs.

During the visit, the senators were very much impressed by the beauty of the Buddha Memorial Center. Abbot Hsin Pao welcomed them all to bring their friends and families to visit in the future. As a gift, he gave each senator a copy of Venerable Master’s books “365 Days for Travelers” and “Where is the Way - Humanistic Buddhism.” Photos were taken with the Abbot and the senators using the scenic view of Fo Guang Big Buddha as the backdrop. The senators followed the culture by joining palms before parting with the Abbot.

Venerable Yi Jih led the senators during their tour of the Buddha Memorial Center. Their tour included the One Stroke Calligraphy exhibition in the Six Perfections Pagoda, the Home of Joy and Celebration in the Five Harmonies Pagoda, and more. Venerable Yi Jih also arranged places for the senators to take nice photos as souvenirs.
