2015-10-26

The Rajabhat University System in Thailand, which used to be main educational institute, aims to nurture all-round talents. On 16 October, 47 teaching staffs from 13 Thai Rajabhat Universities such as Phetchaburi Rrajabhat University, Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, and Kanchanaburi Rajabhat University led by Dr. Niwat Klinngam, President of Phetchaburi Rajabhat University President visited the Buddha Memorial Center (BMC).

Fo Guang Shan Vice Abbot Venerable Hui Lun introduced the origin of BMC at the Seven Admonishments Pagoda. Venerable Hui Lun also presented copies of Cloud and Water, a biography of Venerable Master Hsing Yun as a gift to be kept in the libraries of the various universities. He explained that this book serves as an important resource for scholars to research Fo Guang Shan and Venerable Master Hsing Yun. President Dr. Niwat Klinngam responded by saying “Thank you” in Mandarin.

They were arranged to visit the Jade Buddha Shrine where they get in touch with the Buddha’s tooth relic and practice meditation. They also visited the Five Harmonies Pagoda, Four Givings Pagoda, Avalokitesvara Shrine, and Golden Buddha Shrine. Although their visit to Taiwan focused on exchanges with Taiwan’s universities and colleges, this visit to Fo Guang Shan was specially arranged as Buddhism is the mainstream religion in Thailand. Dr. Niwat Klinngam expressed that even though they were on a tight schedule, their minds experienced peace while they were in BMC. Their dialogue with Venerable Hui Lun triggered more interest in seeking peace within oneself. They also expressed admiration for Fo Guang Shan’s effort in propagating Buddhism.
