On the 17th and 20th of July, the Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum was visited by the members of the Fo Guang Buddhist Monastic Retreat. The retreat participants, 45 young adults from around the world, toured the museum in its entirety. They learned about Dharma, Fo Guang Shan’s History, and Chinese Buddhist Culture. Starting with a walking tour they saw the architecture of the Museum, along with some of the exhibits found in the Main Hall. They saw films introducing the Museum and an animated short telling a Buddhist tale. Afterward, they saw the Golden Buddha Shrine and went to the base of the Big Buddha. To wrap up the first day, they had a mediation session and did calligraphy under the Big Buddha.

On day two they had a Chan Tea session in the Tea House. They concluded the tour with a talk from the Director, Venerable Ru Chang, who spoke about how Fo Guang Shan spreads the Dharma world wide through One-Stroke Calligraphy, the Buddha Head Statue at Youju Temple, and the Buddha Museum. Members of the International Affairs Team were asked to introduce themselves in various languages and to share their knowledge on the Museum. The talk ended sweetly with Venerable Zhiyi presenting "Eightfold Path," a song from Siddhartha The Musical.
