Since its opening, the Buddha Museum has shown unlimited potential in international exchanges, cross-strait exchanges, inter-religious dialogues, inter-museum interactions, art performances, educational programmes, vegetarianism, and public services. Over ten million visitors arrive at the Museum every year. It was selected as the one of the Top Hundred Religious Spots in Taiwan, and also won the 2014 Traveler's Choice Award in 2014, 2016, and 2017 for Kaohsiung on TripAdvisor, the largest tourist website in the world. The museum became the youngest member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in 2014 and was certified as a member of the Alliance of Museums (AAM) in 2017. These remarkable achievements resulted from the collaboration and selfless spirit of the monastics and lay devotees of Fo Guang Shan from all over the world.
