Design with a Human-Centered Approach

The Buddha Museum is a place designed for everybody. Since its opening, the Museum has provided free admission and services including guided tours, luggage deposit, rent of wheelchairs and strollers etc. Designed with a human-centered approach, the entire complex is obstacle-free and the covered walkways shield visitors from the sun and rain. There are also plenty of spots for visitors to take a break while they rest their gaze on the beautiful sceneries.


Guided Tours

The Buddha Museum provides guided tours on Buddhist culture. Visitors can also opt to watch videos, or experience sitting meditation, Tea Chan, and Sutra transcription during the tours.

Visitors can scan the QR code displayed at different spots in the Buddha Museum, or listen to our online audio guide.

Audio devices are available at the Museum of Buddhist Underground Palaces in the Main Hall. Please deposit an ID document for loan at the counter.

Group tours in Mandarin and other languages are available on reservation three and seven prior to tour respectively. Tours will be conducted for 50 minutes.

Getting Here

Fo Guang Shan Buddha Museum is easily accessible by car and public transportation.

If you are arriving by car, you can take the National Highway 1, transfer to the National Highway 8, and then continue onto the National Highway 3. After passing the Zhongliao tunnel, drive to the National Highway heading to Qishan. Take the Dashu exit and go straight on the Provincial Highway 29 to Fo Guang Shan.

Fo Guang Shan provides shuttle services from Fo Guang Shan Monastery to the Buddha Museum from 9:00 - 17:00

Weekdays: Mon. - Fri. (Every hour)
Weekends: Sat. - Sun. and Holidays (Every 30 mins)

Non-duality Gate → Buddha Museum: On the hour (First shuttle: 9:00; Last shuttle: Weekdays 17:00, Weekends 17:30)
Buddha Museum → Non-duality Gate: 15 mins after the hour (First shuttle: 9:15; Last shuttle: Weekdays 17:15, Weekends 17:40)

Dining Options

Dining options at the Museum include the buffet at the second floor of the Front Hall and various Tea Houses around the Museum. Visitors can sample different kinds of vegetarian cuisines at each Waterdrop Tea House, uniquely equipped with various menus and beautiful sceneries.

Shopping Center, located along the Fo Guang Boulevard, offers creative light meals that are delicately handmade. Popular dishes include wanton soup and spicy wontons.

This Waterdrop Tea House is near the entrance of the Front Hall. Recommended dishes include Lima Bean Noodles, Fried Rice, and Taiwanese-style Cold Noodles.

This is an all-you-can-eat buffet with one meal ticket. The buffet includes ten kinds of dishes and two kinds of soups, which is cheap and delicious.

This provides healthy, nutritious, and delicious vegetable dishes which are made with in-season vegetables. The indoor banquet hall is perfect for family dinner, business gathering, or celebrations.

The Twin Pavilions is an golden structure set beside a pond. Meals include noodles in soup, fried noodles, fried rice, flaky scallion pancake and many different side dishes.

This Tea House provides a rice and a noodle dish each day, and customers can pay any price they like after the meal as a donation. The simple tea house is an unusually warm place to dine in.

This Tea House is the only restaurant under a Buddha statue in Taiwan. Many kinds of food such as Chinese food, noodles, rice, dishes, pizza, hamburgers and pancake are provided.

Venues for Rent

The Buddha Museum is an international platform which combines Buddhism, culture, art and education. The museum offers several venues for the society, schools and performers to hold conferences, seminar and all kinds of activities. The event should be non-profit.

Facilities

The Buddha Museum provides wheelchairs and baby strollers for disabled and infants. They are available for loan at the information desks in the Front and Main Halls without providing identification cards.
