Since its opening, the Buddha Memorial Center has shown unlimited potential in international exchanges, cross-strait exchanges, inter-religious dialogues, inter-museum interactions, art performances, educational programmes, vegetarianism, and public services. Over ten million visitors arrive at the Buddha Memorial Center every year. It was selected as the one of the Top Hundred Religious Spots in Taiwan, and also won the 2014 Traveler's Choice Award for Kaohsiung on TripAdvisor, the largest tourist website in the world. The Buddha Memorial Center became the youngest member of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) in 2014. These remarkable achievements resulted from the collaboration and selfless spirit of the monastics and lay devotees of Fo Guang Shan from all over the world. The Story of Buddha Memorial Center is published to commemorate its fifth anniversary. This book records the mutual achievements accomplished by numerous people.
