Description

In August 2019, the Longmen Grottoes exhibition was here in Taiwan for the first time. The exhibits date back to the Northern Wei, Northern Qi, Sui, and Tang dynasties, and include Buddhist images and steles from places including Longmen Grottoes, Luoyang, Zhengzhou, Gongyi, Fuyang, Xinxiang, Anyang, and Yucheng County. Visitors can get to see 34 items from the Henan Museum and 33 items from the Longmen Grottoes Academy at the Buddha Museum.
Henan is the important birthplace of Chinese civilization and an important source of Buddhist development. Fo Guang Shan shares a close connection with Henan. Apart from past exhibitions and performances, the Buddha Museum has held exhibitions displaying the Henan Gongyi Cave Temple rubbings in 2013, and the ancient jade ware of the Central Plains in 2017. 2019 marks the third year of the second five-year collaboration between the Fo Guang Shan Foundation of Buddhist Culture and Education and the Chinese Cultural Relics Exchange Association. The Light of Longmen Buddha - Buddhist Art Exhibition of Henan had once again set off a high fever at the Buddha Museum.
